The Center of Injustice, created by Tai Carpenter and Teressa Raiford of Don’t Shoot Portland, channels the visual and auditory aesthetic of Portland’s protests for racial justice.
The installation is anchored by a booth of plexiglass walls that enclose a number of vintage TVs, cycling footage about racial injustice from different decades in Portland’s history.
The installation was documented using a 360 camera to better capture the atmosphere and weight of the work. The documentation can best be experienced on mobile device or VR headset.
Don’t Shoot Portland’s mixed media installation, was created in collaboration with the film production company Media Pollution.
Part of Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA) exhibition "Policing Justice". Exhibition Dates: February 23 – May 19, 2024
